California High School Basketball - Point Arena knocked off by Rio Lindo Adventist
February 23, 2011: Healdsburg, CA 95448 In Wednesday's non-league match, the host Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans basketball team scored a good 37-22 triumph over the Point Arena Pirates.
In their next game, the Spartans confront the Tomales Braves (Tomales, CA) in a non-league match, on Saturday, February 26. Rio Lindo Adventist will attempt to better on its 18-8 season record. The Braves enter the match with a 16-8 record after their 37-36 non-league loss to Sonoma Academy (Santa Rosa, CA).
With the defeat, Point Arena moves to 14-13 on the year.
Game Summary
After a slow start to the game, the nerves went away and Rio got their act together. Lisa Marxmiller scored a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Seraphie Allen collected yet anohter double-double on her remarkable season. Allen had 12 points and 15 rebounds. She went a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line. The Lady Spartans made history as they earned their first ever basketball playoff victory. The win marked their 18th victory on the season. The 18 wins makes Rio Lindo girls history as they are the only team to win more than 17 games. They will now play against Tomales in the quarterfinals of the NCS Division 6 playoffs. The game will take place in Tomales on Saturday at 7:30 pm
