Freshmen left hand Pitcher Lauren Hynes came within one pitch of throwing a perfect game against the San Diego county's #5 ranked team the Steele Canyon Cougars last night in the 3rd round of the 2009 (32 team) Cougar Classic at Kit Carson Park in Escondido. Hynes settled for a 6 inning,8 strike out, 1 walk no-hitter to lead Torrey Pines into the Golden (first place) pool of the tournament. The Falcons banged out 10 hits to improve to 4-0 on the season while Steele canyon fell to 1-2. Hynes only allowed a 6th inning lead off walk to Lorena Kloop who was the Cougars only base runner of the game. Torrey Pines plays Rancho Bernardo next in pool play while Steele Canyon plays University City.
