Game Summary
A very exciting and well played game by both teams. It was 0-0 at the half, but could have been much worse. Keeper Sarah Batchelor had 8 saves in the first 40 minutes and 16 in the game. It was still 0-0 in the 77th minute until Peri Rose Sykes took a free kick from about 30 yards out, Maddison Ratzlaff touched the kick wide right and Bailey Milroy put the ball in the net to put Vanguard up 1-0. We took a defensive stance and tried to hold them off. Trinidad scored on a lofting ball from the left to the far post to tie the game in stoppage time. The first overtime period ended without a score. Trinidad scored from a throw in deep in their attacking 1/3 with about 90 seconds remaining in the second overtime period. In my opinion, Vanguard did not look like a first year team in this game. I am very proud of how far they've come in a very short time. We have such a young team and they have nothing to be ashamed of. Great job ladies.
