December 19, 2018: Albany, GA 31705 The Monroe Tornadoes basketball team (Albany, GA), was overwhelmed 73-38 in Wednesday's league battle with the host Dougherty Trojans (Albany, GA)
The Trojans now possess a 5-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Mitchell County for a battle on Monday, January 7.
The Tornadoes (0-1) will now prepare for their battle against Lee County (Leesburg, GA). The Trojans come into the non-league battle with a 1-2 record.
First Quarter
Dougherty won 73-39 against Monroe on Wednesday with the help of Trevion Woodard, who scored 15 points.
Dougherty Trojans JV scored early, claiming a 43-13 lead at the half. Dougherty locked in their lead late in the game, scoring a game-high 25 points in the third quarter on the back of a 11-2 run. Dougherty put forth an aggressive effort, racking up 26 fouls during the game.
With a field goal percentage of 67% (6-for-9), Woodard had a great game from the field, also sinking 50% (3-for-6) of threes attempted.
Demarcious Johnson went into double digits, scoring 10 points for Dougherty (5-for-6).
