California High School Basketball - Sun Valley Magnet falls to Community Charter
December 6, 2016: Lakeview Terrace, CA 91342 In Tuesday's league match, the host Community Charter Titans basketball team scored a good 42-34 triumph over the Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers.
In their next game, the Titans meet the Valor Academy (Van Nuys, CA) in a North Valley match, on Friday, December 9. Community Charter will attempt to better on its 4-5 season record.
With the defeat, Sun Valley Magnet moves to 0-2 on the year. The Pioneers host Lakeview Charter (Sylmar, CA) to meet the Lions in a North Valley match on Wednesday, December 7. The Lions enter the match with a record of 3-2. Lakeview Charter lost 73-41 in their recent non-league match against Collins Family (Huntington Park, CA)
First Quarter
The Titans came out strong against Sun Valley Magnet building up an 18-3. Monya Ward scored six points and David Arreola had four points and Kevin Sandoval came off the bench firing scoring five points.
Second Quarter
The Titans sustained their lead through the second quarter with Thomas Young and Sebastian Sandoval scoring all the points to take a 24-10 lead into the break.
Third Quarter
In the third quarter the Titans started strong thanks to Ward and Brandon Chavarria who scored all 9 Titans points in the period as they took a 33-21 lead into the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter
The Titans closed out the game by starting out the fourth quarter on a 9-1 run to build a 20 -point lead. The bench played good defense the rest of the way to clinch the 42-34 victory. For the game Monya Ward had 14 points 10 rebounds and five blocks. Kevin Sandoval had eight points three rebounds and three assists. Brandon Chavarria had 9 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and 5 steals. Great Job Titans!!!
