Wheeler Bearcats (Valparaiso, IN) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting North Newton Spartans (Morocco, IN), 80-28 in a league bout.

With the win, Wheeler upgrades its record to 7-5 on the year. The Bearcats host Marquette Catholic (Michigan City, IN) to face the Blazers in a Greater South Shore game on Friday, January 23. The Blazers enter the game with a record of 9-5. Marquette Catholic lost 58-48 in their recent non-league game against St. Ignatius (Chicago, IL)

With the defeat, North Newton moves to 4-10 on the year. The Spartans travel to Rensselaer Central (Rensselaer, IN) to face the Bombers in a non-league game on Friday, January 30.
