North Carolina High School Baseball - Red Springs loses to East Columbus
April 27, 2010: Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450 The East Columbus Gators baseball team scored 10 points and limited the visiting Red Springs Red Devils to 0 in the Gators league victory on Tuesday.
The Gators (13-3) will now prepare for their match against St. Pauls (St. Pauls, NC). The Bulldogs go into the 2A/1A Conference 7 match with a 6-11 record.
The Red Devils (5-14) will now prepare for their match against Fairmont (Fairmont, NC). The Golden Tornadoes go into the 2A/1A Conference 7 match with a 14-6 record. In their last match, Fairmont gained a win over West Columbus (Cerro Gordo, NC), 3-2, in a league match.

East Columbus Junior RHP Skylar Bowen 6IP,H,7K faced 19 batters, 1 over the minimum in 6 due to 10 run rule throwing a total of 58 pitches. Freshman 3b Ben Connor 2H,HR,4RBI roped a 2-1 pitched over the RF wall for a Grand Slam in the 3rd. Junior SS Derrick Bracey 2H,3B and Sophmore C Hunter Smith 2H,RBI along with a 2B for Sophmore CF David Bridgers. Bracey scored the winning run on a PB after hitting 3B in 6th. Red Springs RHP Andrew Lowery 3IP,8H,9R,3ER,2K,3BB,HB took the loss and RHP Le'Michael Locklear 2IP,H,R pitched in releif. LF Sherman Sumpter singled in the 4th when EC LF lost the ball in the sun for Red Springs only hit of the evening.
