North Carolina High School Baseball - Eastern Wayne loses to C.B. Aycock
April 21, 2014: Goldsboro, NC 27534 In Monday's non-league game, the visiting C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons baseball team scored a tight 8-4 victory over the Eastern Wayne Warriors.
The Golden Falcons (13-6) will now prepare for their game against Rosewood (Goldsboro, NC). The Eagles go into the non-league game with a 6-2 record. In their last game, Rosewood tipped North Johnston (Kenly, NC), 7-1, in a non-league game.
The Warriors (1-8) will now prepare for their game against C.B. Aycock (Pikeville, NC). The Golden Falcons go into the game with a 14-6 record.
Game Summary
In their first game of the Southern Wayne JV Easter Tournament, the Aycock team was lead by the pitching of Chandler Matthews. Matthews held the Warriors to two hits while delivering two of his own and left the game with a 5-0 lead. The Warriors rallied in the fourth inning to score four runs as their bats erupted for four hits in the inning. Trey Jordan nailed down the victory earning the save. The Falcon offense was paced by a two hit performance from the duo of Cameron Kornegay and Landon Casey. Matthews battery mate, Chris Turner, drove in two runs with a single and sacrifice. Sam Mott contributed a single and RBI to end the Falcon scoring.
