The Matanzas Pirates basketball team scored 40 points and held the host New Smyrna Beach Barracudas to 33 in the Pirates league triumph on Friday.

The Pirates now sport a 8-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host First Coast Christian for a non-league contest on Tuesday, January 20. Matanzas will battle a Knights team coming off a 36-30 league loss to Harvest Community (Jacksonville, FL). The Knights record now stands at 2-9.

The Barracudas (6-13) will now prepare for their contest against Mainland (Daytona Beach, FL). The Buccaneers enter the 6A District 5 contest with a 5-8 record.
