Harold Cortijo has been named player of the year. "Congratulations to Senior Harold Cortijo for being named 2017 Player of the Year and for the second consecutive year for the Crusaders. Harold once again was the team leader on and off the field. Off the field he lead the team through his never give up spirit and attitude. On the field he lead the way by playing in all 31 games, lead the team in PA-123, AB-108, Runs-53, Hit-58, 3B-5, and was either 2nd or 3rd in almost every other category. On the mound Harold was even more dominate, he lead Riverdale and the Metro area in Wins-11, K's-86, and Innings Pitched-63.1. Harold allowed just 5 runs all season and recorded 4 CG's and 2 Shut-outs. For all of Harold's accomplishments he has been named "2017 Gatorade Maryland Baseball Player of the Year". He has also been awarded the "2017 Washington Post All-Met Player of the Year" for helping lead the Crusaders to their 4th straight NACA National Championship along with a 30-1 record and the NO# 1 Ranking in the Post from start to finish."
