September 27, 2011: Zebulon, NC 27597 The East Wake Academy Eagles (Zebulon, NC) soccer overwhelmed the visiting Varsity Opponent (, ), 5-1 in Tuesday's non-league bout.
With the win, East Wake Academy betters its record to 3-7 on the year. The Eagles travel to Community Christian (Wilson, NC) to face the Cyclones in a non-league bout on Thursday, September 29. The Cyclones go into the bout with a record of 0-2. Community Christian lost 4-0 in their recent league bout against Grace Christian (Sanford, NC)
In their next game, the face the Calumet Christian Patriots (Griffith, IN) in a non-league bout, on Friday, September 30. Varsity Opponent will attempt to better on its 6-12 season record. The Patriots go into the bout with a 9-4 record after their 4-0 league win over Granger Christian (Granger, IN).
Game Summary
East Wake Academy again proved that it is a team to not be taken lightly, with a commanding victory over DASH United Home School, 5-1. After over a week of no games, EWA came out flat and let DASH score first, but answered back quickly with a goal by Senior Evan Holland to tie the game, 1-1, at the half. In the second half, it was all Eagles, with Evan Holland scoring off of a give and go by Freshman Garrett Jackson. Holland would go on to score 3 more goals to make a total of all 5 with assists from Sophomore Justin Tart, Senior Goalkeeper Chris Jelley, and Freshman Jake Watkins. Goalkeeper Chris Jelley had 12 saves, while only allowing 1 goal today. Other notables for shots on goal include: Jake Watkins (4), Justin Tart (1), Garrett Jackson (5), Freshman Trevor Hinton (2), Junior Nate Yarbrough (2), Evan Holland (8), Freshman Weston Bragg (1) and Senior Gregory Beddingfield (3).
