Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Butler Bulldogs (Matthews, NC) and the visiting Independence Patriots (Charlotte, NC), saw Butler's basketball squad trounce Independence by a score of 70-49.

With the victory, Butler improves its record to 9-6 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Ardrey Kell (Charlotte, NC) to battle the Knights in a Southwestern 4A challenge on Friday, January 23. The Knights come into the challenge with a record of 9-5. Ardrey Kell won 72-41 in their recent league challenge against Weddington (Matthews, NC)

Next up, the Patriots battle the Myers Park Mustangs (Charlotte, NC) in a Southwestern 4A challenge, on Friday, January 23. Independence will attempt to improve on its 2-11 season record. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a 12-5 record after their 91-62 league win over South Mecklenburg (Charlotte, NC).
