Colorado High School Soccer - ThunderRidge nudges Mountain Vista
April 17, 2012: Highlands Ranch, CO 80129 ThunderRidge Grizzlies (Highlands Ranch, CO) fans were thrilled Tuesday as they observed their soccer team hold off the visiting Mountain Vista Golden Eagles (Highlands Ranch, CO), 3-2 in a league challenge.
Next, the Grizzlies confront the Heritage Eagles (Littleton, CO) in a 5A Continental challenge, on Thursday, April 19. ThunderRidge will attempt to better on its 7-2 season record. The Eagles enter the challenge with a 7-3 record after their 3-1 league win over Chaparral (Parker, CO).
The Golden Eagles now have a 7-1 record. They take the field next when they host Castle View for a 5A Continental challenge on Thursday, April 19. Mountain Vista will confront a Sabercats team coming off a 2-0 league loss to Regis Jesuit (Aurora, CO). The Sabercats record now stands at 3-7.
Game Summary
After a well fought first half and two great goals by Mountain Vista in the first half, the Lady Grizzlies came together at half time and discussed how close the game truly was. With fire in their eyes, the Grizzlies scored in the 44th minute to cut their deficit in half. Play continued to be even throughout the half and within a matter of one minute of play, Kayla Hill and Riley Welch scored two quick goals to give ThunderRidge the lead- one they would never look back on as they went on to defeat the Golden Eagle 3-2.
