Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Walnut Wildcats (Walnut, MS) and the visiting South Pontotoc Cougars (Pontotoc, MS), saw Walnut's basketball squad overcome South Pontotoc by a tally of 55-47.

With the victory, Walnut improves its record to 7-11 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to New Site (Booneville, MS) to confront the Royals in a 2A Region 1 challenge on Monday, January 29. The Royals come into the challenge with a record of 16-7. New Site lost 52-41 in their recent non-league challenge against Kossuth (Kossuth, MS)

Coming up next, the Cougars battle the Choctaw County Chargers (Ackerman, MS) in a 3A Region 4 battle, on Monday, January 29. South Pontotoc will attempt to better on its 14-10 season record.
