New Jersey High School Basketball - Northern Highlands thwarted by Paramus Catholic
January 31, 2012: Paramus, NJ 07652 The Northern Highlands Highlanders basketball team (Allendale, NJ), was toppled 74-54 in Tuesday's non-league battle with the host Paramus Catholic Paladins (Paramus, NJ)
The Paladins now possess a 8-4 record. They play next when they travel to Ramapo for a Big North - VI battle on Thursday, February 2. Paramus Catholic will battle a Raiders team coming off a 46-35 league win over Bergen Tech (Hackensack, NJ). The Raiders record now stands at 3-9.
The Highlanders (6-7) will now prepare for their battle against Paramus (Paramus, NJ). The Spartans come into the non-league battle with a 2-11 record. In their last battle, Paramus was toppled by Hackensack (Hackensack, NJ), 105-53, in a league contest.
First Quarter
quick start for PC's Kyle Menard with 6pts & 4pts from teammate Jalen Henriquez, PC won the 1st quarter over Northerhighland's 16 to 13
Second Quarter
PC went carzy in the 2nd quarter hitting (4) three points and scoring 28 points in the quarter. Henriquez scored 13pts in the quarter, with support from Marquel Sheffield with 6pts, & 7pts from Menard. PC won the quareter 28 to 18 and took a halftime lead 44-31.
Third Quarter
PC kept it rolling with 6 pts from Vaughn Dudley who was all over the entire court with great defensive play, Mike Alford also played hard with 5pts in the 3rd quarter. PC won the quarter 17-13 and the lead continued to grow, 61-44.
Fourth Quarter
PC played (15) players during the entire game which kept guys fresh. PC won the final quarter 13 to 10. one player overlooked who plays some of the best defensive we seen is Darius Christmas, who assignment was to guard NorthHighlands top guard Joey Grey, who was bottled up all nite and only scored 4 pts. Christmas is one of the best defenders in the county.
