Game Summary
Kat Fischer tossed a 3 hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to lead Weston to a 2-0 win in an SWC conference game. Fischer also drove in the winning run on a 5th inning Sac Fly. Lianna Hursh drove in Weston's 2nd run with a two out single in the 5th. Hursh also tripled and had 11 put outs at 1st base. Shelby Meberg had 2 hits. Sami Briggs caught a great game for Weston.
The contest was a pitching duel between the Trojans' Fisher and the Falcons' Anne Dolan (0-1) (2 runs/1 earned, 4 hits, 5K and 2BB). The contest was marked by a questionable call in the fifth inning, when Dolan appeared to strike out Fisher, but the umpire called a foul tip when the ball was not handled by Megan Montanaro behind the plate. Fisher then lofted a sac fly to left to drive home what turned out to be the winning run. The Barlow hitters were held in check throughout the game as only Olivia Ventricelli (1-1, 2BB) and singles by Dolan and Kacey Hale amounted for Barlow's only offense.
