California High School Softball - Notre Dame bounces Big Bear
March 7, 2012: Big Bear City, CA 92315 Spectators at Wednesday's non-league match between the Notre Dame Titans (Riverside, CA) and the host Big Bear Bears (Big Bear City, CA), witnessed Notre Dame's softball squad prevail over Big Bear by a count of 8-0.
The Titans now sport a 3-0 record. They play next when they travel to Aquinas for a non-league match on Thursday, March 8. Notre Dame will meet a Falcons squad coming off a 19-1 non-league win over Pacific (San Bernardino, CA). The Falcons record now stands at 6-1.
With the loss, Big Bear moves to 2-3 on the season. The Bears travel to Academy for Academic Excellence (Apple Valley, CA) to meet the Knights in a non-league match on Monday, March 12. The Knights go into the match with a record of 2-2. Academy for Academic Excellence won 11-7 in their recent non-league match against University Prep (Victorville, CA)
Game Summary
The Notre Dame Lady Titans defeated Big Bear H.S. 8-0 in the final pool play game to advance to their third straight championship game at the Loma Linda Academy Softball Tournament. Notre Dame was lead by pitcher Bailey Powell who struckout 18 of 24 batters faced. Powell also allowed no hits and pitched a shutout. Offensively the Lady Titans were lead by Makayla Powell 3-3, 3-RBI's, Bailey Powell 3-4, Jamie Alaniz 2-4, 1-RBI and Megan O'Connor 3-RBi's. Notre Dame will play Aquinas H.S. in the championship game Thursday March 8, 2012 at 5:30pm at The Oaks at Soboba.
