Alabama High School Basketball - Parker holds off Wenonah
January 14, 2011: Birmingham, AL 35204 Parker Thundering Herd (Birmingham, AL) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Wenonah Dragons (Birmingham, AL), 60-56 in a league bout.
With the victory, Parker upgrades its record to 17-4 on the campaign. The Thundering Herd travel to Carver (Birmingham, AL) to play the Rams in a non-league bout on Monday, January 17. The Rams come into the bout with a record of 6-10. Carver won 62-59 in their recent league bout against Minor (Adamsville, AL)
Next up, the Dragons play the Blount Leopards (Eight Mile, AL) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 15. Wenonah will attempt to upgrade on its 16-4 season record. The Leopards come into the bout with a 11-9 record after their 61-49 non-league win over Williamson (Mobile, AL).
Fourth Quarter
Class 5A No. 8 Parker made 32-of-50 free-throw attempts to upend the top-ranked Wenonah Dragons in Area 9 play. Reginald Parker led the host Herd (17-4, 4-1) with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Marquell Oliver contributed 11 points and nine rebounds while JaJuan Hudson had 10 points and six steals. Chase Sadler scored 13 points and Jeremy Bogus 11 to pace Wenonah (16-4, 3-2).
