Colorado High School Volleyball - Sand Creek crushed by Mesa Ridge
September 13, 2012: Colorado Springs, CO 80911 The Mesa Ridge Grizzlies topped the visiting Sand Creek Scorpions volleyball team by a score of 3-0 in Thursday's non-league test.
The Grizzlies now have a 7-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Harrison for a 4A Colorado Springs Metro contest on Tuesday, September 18. Mesa Ridge will battle a Panthers squad coming off a 3-1 non-league loss to Calhan (Calhan, CO). The Panthers record now stands at 1-8.
With the loss, Sand Creek moves to 2-6 on the year. The Scorpions host Pueblo Central (Pueblo, CO) to battle the Wildcats in a non-league contest on Monday, September 17. The Wildcats go into the contest with a record of 2-6. Pueblo Central lost 3-0 in their recent league contest against Pueblo Centennial (Pueblo, CO)

We had more service errors than normal but still managed to serve pretty well. Aeryn Quintana served 23 times and scored 17 points with 3 aces. Jordan Hoffman had 14 serves scoring 11 points with 2 aces. Sarabeth Haworth also served 14 times scoring 9 points and had 1 ace. Sarabeth led the team with 47 attacks and had 20 kills. Grace Neal had 18 attacks and had 6 kills. Aeryn had an outstanding game setting. She handled the ball 87 times and had 29 assists with only 1 error. Breanna Moorhouse led the team on defense with 19 digs and 0 errors. Grace Neal was close behind with 17 digs and just 1 error. Our blocking was a little stronger tonight. Venessa Itugbu led the team with 3 assisted blocks. Sami Rudd had 2 assisted blocks and Jordan Hoffman had an assist. Sarabeth had our only solo block for the evening.
