October 17, 2011: Pasadena, CA 91105 The Western Christian Fighting Lancers topped the host Maranatha Minutemen volleyball team by a score of 3-1 in Monday's non-league test.
The Fighting Lancers now have a 14-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Linfield Christian for a Ambassador test on Tuesday, October 18. Western Christian will confront a Lions team coming off a 3-0 league loss to Aquinas (San Bernardino, CA). The Lions record now stands at 2-9.
The Minutemen (4-7) will now prepare for their test against Whittier Christian (La Habra, CA). The Heralds enter the Olympic test with a 22-1 record. In their last test, Whittier Christian gained a win over Los Angeles Baptist (North Hills, CA), 3-1, in a league test.
Match Summary
In set 1, the Lady Lancerns fell behind early 9-4 before drawing even at 16-16.
After Maranatha took a 2-point lead at 22-20, the Lady Lancers rolled off 3 consecutive
points to take their first lead at 23-20. Western Christian hung on to win set 1 by a score
of 26-24.
Maranatha won set 2 by a score of 25-14 as the Lady Lancer offensive
attack faltered.
The Lady Lancerns got off to a fast start in set 3 by jumping out to a quick 6-1 lead.
Western Christian extended the lead to 16-10 as the Lady Lancer attack came alive.
The Lady Lancers pushed the lead to 9-points at 20-11 before cruising to a convincing
set 3 win by a score of 25-15.
The Lady Lancers dominated set 4 and with a strong hitting attack and won going away 25-11
to win the match 3-1 over host Maranatha High School (26-24, 14-25, 25-15, 25-11).
