Michigan High School Basketball - Ypsilanti trounces Roosevelt
December 10, 2013: Ypsilanti, MI 48197 The Ypsilanti Grizzlies (Ypsilanti, MI) basketball crushed the visiting Roosevelt Bears (Wyandotte, MI), 68-37 in Tuesday's non-league test.
The Grizzlies (1-0) will now prepare for their test against Southeastern (Detroit, MI). The Jungaleers go into the non-league test with a 0-1 record. In their last test, Southeastern was trounced by Orr (Chicago, IL), 42-39, in a non-league test.
The Bears now own a 0-1 record. They play next when they host Carlson for a Downriver test on Friday, December 13. Roosevelt will encounter a Marauders squad coming off a 58-46 non-league win over Grosse Ile (Grosse Ile, MI). The Marauders record now stands at 1-0.
First Quarter
Ypsilanti jumped out to a 15 point lead led by Louisville recruit Jaylen Johnson and his 9 points.
Second Quarter
Jacob Lavis and Donovan Stewart both contributed a 3 point basket, and Roosevelt cut into the deficit to start the quarter. Ypsilanti went on another run with 3's by Georgio Mack, and Cory Allen.
Third Quarter
In the third Quarter Corey Allen led all scorers with 10 points as he scored some baskets to give the host Grizzlies a comfortable lead heading into the 4.
Fourth Quarter
Jacob Lavis scored two 3 point baskets in the 4th for the visiting Bears but it was not enough as the host Grizzlies beat the Bears 68-37
