Colorado High School Soccer - Fairview knocks off Legacy
October 11, 2011: Broomfield, CO 80020 Fairview Knights (Boulder, CO) supporters were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their soccer team prevail over the host Legacy Lightning (Broomfield, CO), 4-0 in a league bout.
With the win, Fairview betters its record to 8-2 on the year. The Knights host Fossil Ridge (Fort Collins, CO) to battle the Sabercats in a 5A Front Range bout on Thursday, October 13. The Sabercats go into the bout with a record of 7-2. Fossil Ridge 1-1 in their recent league bout against Fort Collins (Fort Collins, CO)
In their next game, the Lightning battle the Rocky Mountain Lobos (Fort Collins, CO) in a 5A Front Range bout, on Thursday, October 13. Legacy will attempt to better on its 7-4 season record. The Lobos go into the bout with a 3-5 record after their 5-1 league loss to Fairview (Boulder, CO).
Game Summary
Legacy continued a downward spiral of missed opportunities and underachievement. The Lightning had three solid chances in the first two minutes of play, including two corner kicks. After failing to convert on any of these opportunities the game continued to tilt in favor of Fairview in possession and chances. After a 2-0 halftime score the Lightning came out strong and earned some good opportunities in the first 15 minutes of the half. Ultimately, Fairview scored its third goal on a set piece to a header when the Legacy defenders were distracted. Many substitutions occurred before Fairview got its fourth and final goal.
