Delaware High School Basketball - Salesianum fells St. Elizabeth
March 2, 2014: Wilmington, DE 19805 Salesianum Sallies (Wilmington, DE) backers were in high spirits Sunday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host St. Elizabeth Vikings (Wilmington, DE), 58-49 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Salesianum upgrades its record to 21-2 on the season. The Sallies travel to Concord (Wilmington, DE) to play the Raiders in a non-league bout on Thursday, March 6. The Raiders go into the bout with a record of 16-6. Concord won 40-34 in their recent non-league bout against St. Mark's (Wilmington, DE)
Next up, the Vikings play the Delaware Military Academy (Wilmington, DE) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, March 5. St. Elizabeth will attempt to improve on its 10-13 season record. The come into the challenge with a 14-7 record after their 51-49 non-league loss to St. Elizabeth (Wilmington, DE).
First Quarter
Jordan Money hit 2 threes and Brandon Gautier scored 4 points to lead the Vikings to a 1 point 1st quarter lead. Brian O'Neill, the All State Center had 8 points to keep the Sals Close.
Second Quarter
The Vikings were able to hold possible player of the year Dante DiVincenzo to zero points in the half but were unable to raise any offense except Mike Piekarski's 4 points and the Vikings fell behind by 4 at the half.
Third Quarter
The Vikings stormed back to surge a tie at the end of the third quarter once again were led by Mike Piekarski's 8 points and Jordan Money's 3 points but were unable to take the lead.

Fourth Quarter
The Sals scored 3 quick basket to begin the 4th quarter and every time St. E's brought it to within 4 the Sals would go to the foul line and extend the lead. Sallies scored 11 of its final 13 points at the foul line to obtain the victory as the #1 Seed in the State Tournament.
