Chaparral Firebirds (Scottsdale, AZ) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the visiting Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions (Glendale, AZ), 59-57 in a league bout.

With the win, Chaparral upgrades its record to 7-3 on the season. The Firebirds travel to Payson (Payson, AZ) to play the Longhorns in a non-league bout on Wednesday, December 26. The Longhorns go into the bout with a record of 4-3.

Next up, the Mountain Lions play the Mountain Pointe Pride (Phoenix, AZ) in a I Section III bout, on Tuesday, January 8. Mountain Ridge will attempt to upgrade on its 6-6 season record.
