Maryland High School Basketball - Patterson falls to Southwestern

December 8, 2011: Baltimore, MD 21224

The Southwestern Sabers basketball team scored 41 points and held the host Patterson Clippers to 32 in the Sabers non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Sabers now sport a 2-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Maritime Academy for a Baltimore City Division II contest on Friday, December 9.

The Clippers (0-1) will now prepare for their contest against Mergenthaler Vo-Tech (Baltimore, MD). The Mustangs enter the non-league contest with a 0-0 record.

Coaches Summary

First Quarter

Southwestern was unable to successfully press as the Clippers ended the first quarter on top.

Second Quarter

The second quarter was marked by Southwestern's remarkable defense as they blanked their opponent.

Third Quarter

Each squad came out of the locker room fired up and ready to play for the third quarter. Each time knocked down multiple jumpers and three pointers.

Fourth Quarter

The sabers were able to hold on despite a scoring barrage from number 30, Clay, of the clippers. She alone scored 12 in the final quarter. Senior leadership showed up for the Sabers however as Treshelle Whorley knocked down a big tre late in the game to seal the deal.
