Texas High School Baseball - Carthage wallops Henderson
March 30, 2012: Carthage, TX 75633 Carthage Bulldogs (Carthage, TX) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the visiting Henderson Lions (Henderson, TX), 12-2 in a league test.
With the win, Carthage upgrades its record to 20-2 on the season. The Bulldogs travel to Gladewater (Gladewater, TX) to battle the Bears in a 3A Region II District 16 test on Tuesday, April 3. The Bears come into the test with a record of 4-7. Gladewater lost 7-6 in their recent league test against Pittsburg (Pittsburg, TX)
With the defeat, Henderson moves to 8-10 on the year. The Lions host Gladewater (Gladewater, TX) to clash with the Bears in a 3A Region II District 16 match on Friday, April 6. The Bears go into the match with a record of 4-7.
Game Summary
Kellan Davis had a walkoff RBI single with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Carthage Bulldogs(20-2 - 3-0) rolled to a 12-2 victory Friday night over the Henderson Lions. Clint Cage belted his sixth homerun of the year, a three run shot in the second inning and an inning later Brody Colle had a pinch hit bases clearing double. Austin Williford doubled twice driving in 3 runs and Dayton Russell was 2 for 3. Chris Ponder, Jared Twomey and Kolby Blissett all singled for the Carthage. JayDon Day(8-0) was the beneficiary of the Bulldogs offensive onslaught. In five innings Day scattered 5 hits walking one and striking out one. Joey Harrison pitched the sixth inning for Carthage.
