Missouri High School Basketball - Wellington-Napoleon holds off Odessa
December 2, 2011: Wellington, MO 64097 Wellington-Napoleon Tigers (Wellington, MO) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Odessa Bulldogs (Odessa, MO), 42-36 in a non-league bout.
With the victory, Wellington-Napoleon upgrades its record to 1-0 on the campaign. The Tigers host Lone Jack (Lone Jack, MO) to play the Mules in a non-league bout on Monday, December 5. The Mules come into the bout with a record of 2-1. Lone Jack won 57-15 in their recent non-league bout against Maranatha Academy (Shawnee, KS)
Next up, the Bulldogs play the Lafayette County Huskers (Higginsville, MO) in a non-league bout, on Monday, December 5. Odessa will attempt to advance on its 0-1 season record. The Huskers go into the test with a 2-2 record after their 47-29 non-league loss to Lawson (Lawson, MO).
Game Summary
We came out tonight really fired up and ready to play. I was very proud of our effort. Odessa has handled up pretty good in the past and I think this is the first time in about 15 years that we have beat them so that is pretty special for our girls. We came out and played a little sloppy in the third quarter but we stepped up in the fourth and made some plays when we needed to.
