First Quarter
Mercer Island came out on fire scoring 18 points and paced by the combined 14 points of Leroy Lutu and Drew Sexton. The defense held Skyline to ten points on only three field goals.
Second Quarter
MI's defense again was suffocating, holding the Spartans in single digits with 9 points as the Islanders held a 32-19 halftime lead, thanks to a buzzer beater 3 by Drew2 Sexton
Third Quarter
Neither team could generate any offense in the third quarter. Nick Crossan scored his first points of the game for Skyline as he hadfive free throws and a basket for 7 of the Spartans 9 points. MI matched the Skyline total. After three quarters - 42-29 Islanders
Fourth Quarter
Things really heated up in the fourth quarter as the two team s combined for 58 points, 30 by Skyline and 28 by Mercer Island. The Islanders , who had led the entire first three quarters by as much as 17 points were knocked back on their heels by a furious Skyline rally,sparked by the torrid 3 point shooting of Craig Sadowski and the 9 point burst by Nick Crossan, which saw the once seemingly comfortable lead dwindle to a paltry 4 points at 52-48. However, 24 points by MI's three top scorers, 8 each by Lutu, Schut and Sexton and the inspired floor play of big Jack Gala and the Islanders met the challenge and finished
going away to an 11 point final margin, 70-59.
The victory kept the Islander perfect in Kingco 3A play and clinched their first Kingco Confereence title since 2004 and Mercer Island's 22nd Kingco championship overall.
