March 11, 2011: Gainesville, FL 32606 Spectators at Friday's league battle between the St. Francis Catholic Wolves (Gainesville, FL) and the visiting Dixie County Bears (Cross City, FL), saw St. Francis Catholic's baseball squad edge Dixie County by a count of 6-5.
Coming up next, the Wolves play the Yonge Blue Waves (Gainesville, FL) in a 2A District 5 battle, on Monday, March 14. St. Francis Catholic will attempt to move on its 6-6 season record.

Game Summary
Alex Vazquez went 2-3 and scored the winning run as the Wolves beat Dixie County in extra innings. Vazquz laid down a perfect bunt for a base hit to lead off the 9th inning. Advancing to second on a pass ball, Vazquez was moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Matt Hughes. Ted Mitchell was at the plate when the pitcher threw a passed ball that scored Vazquez with the winning run. Bryan LaCivita also went 2-3, scored a run and had a stolen base. Sophomore Michael Hughes came in to pitch in the top of the 8th with a runner on and struck out the first batter. He then got the next batter to ground back to the mound for the last out to get his first win of the season.
