California High School Baseball - Capistrano Valley nips Poly
June 2, 2009: Riverside, CA 92506 Capistrano Valley Cougars (Mission Viejo, CA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the host Poly Bears (Riverside, CA), 1-0 in a non-league test.
With the win, Capistrano Valley upgrades its record to 25-6 on the season. The Cougars travel to Edison (Huntington Beach, CA) to battle the Chargers in a non-league test on Saturday, June 6. The Chargers come into the test with a record of 23-5. Edison won 2-1 in their recent non-league test against Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA)
With the defeat, Poly falls to 20-11 on the season.
Game Summary
Tyler Matzek drove in Steve McMichael with the only run of the game and then pitched a complete game shutout. Tyler had the other Cougar hit as well, a double.
