The Monument Valley Mustangs (Kayenta, AZ) football defeated the visiting Chinle Wildcats (Chinle, AZ), 34-26 in Friday's league bout.

In their next game, the Mustangs face the Pinon Eagles (Pinon, AZ) in a non-league bout, on Friday, August 31. Monument Valley will attempt to advance on its 1-0 season record. The Eagles enter the bout with a 1-0 record after their 46-18 league win over Hopi (Keams Canyon, AZ).

The Wildcats (0-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Ganado (Ganado, AZ). The Hornets come into the IV Section I challenge with a 1-0 record. In their last challenge, Ganado knocked off Valley (Sanders, AZ), 50-0, in a non-league challenge.
