Virginia High School Basketball - Indian River trounces Western Branch
February 6, 2009: Chesapeake, VA 23325 The Indian River Braves (Chesapeake, VA) basketball overwhelmed the visiting Western Branch Bruins (Chesapeake, VA), 73-46 in Friday's league outing.
The Braves (18-3) will now prepare for their outing against Grassfield (Chesapeake, VA). The Grizzlies go into the AAA Southeastern outing with a 4-12 record. In their last outing, Grassfield was crushed by Green Run (Virginia Beach, VA), 65-56, in a non-league outing.
The Bruins now hold a 1-17 record. They take the field next when they host King's Fork for a AAA Southeastern outing on Tuesday, February 10. Western Branch will encounter a Bulldogs squad coming off a 60-36 league win over Deep Creek (Chesapeake, VA). The Bulldogs record now stands at 20-1.

Senior Night for the Braves. Started the game winning the first quarter, 12-8.
Second Quarter
Started celebrating too fast. Poor defense led to the visiting Bruins out scoring the Braves 18-14. Half time score tied.
Third Quarter
Third quarter the team did what they are known to do. Stepped up their defense. Winning the quarter 30-10.
Fourth Quarter
Costed to a victory. Winning the fourth quarter 17- 10.
