North Carolina High School Basketball - New Hope Christian Academy tipped by Potter's House Christian
December 29, 2014: Thomasville, NC 27360 In Monday's league match, the visiting Potter's House Christian Lions basketball team scored a tight 74-71 triumph over the New Hope Christian Academy Phoenix.
In their next game, the Lions meet the Life Center Academy (Burlington, NJ) in a non-league match, on Tuesday, December 30. Potter's House Christian will attempt to move on its 18-1 season record. The enter the match with a 7-4 record after their 82-45 league win over TPLS Christian Academy (Midlothian, VA).
With the defeat, New Hope Christian Academy moves to 18-1 on the year. The Phoenix travel to TPLS Christian Academy (Midlothian, VA) to meet the Lions in a NISAA match on Tuesday, December 30. The Lions enter the match with a record of 3-8. TPLS Christian Academy lost 82-45 in their recent league match against Life Center Academy (Burlington, NJ)
First Quarter
In a much anticipated game by two of the Nations top teams the fans certainly weren't disappointed. The Potter's House Lady Lions jumped out to an early 20-6 lead but New Hope called a timeout to regroup and went on a 9-0 run of their own . The Lady Lions led 22-15 t the end of the first quarter led by Rellah Boothe with 12 points and Denisha Swain with 4 .
Second Quarter
In the second quarter The Phoenix outscored the Lady Lions 27-19 to take a 41-42 lead into the half. Rellah Boothe led the way once again for the Lady Lions with 13 points in the period.
Third Quarter
In the third quarter the Lady Lions came out blazing and scored 7 straight points to take a six point lead and outscored New Hope 19-10 in the period to take a 60-52 lead into the fourth quarter.DeSha Royal led the way for the Lady Lions with 7 pointsand Jasmine Gaines added 5 .
Fourth Quarter
In the fourth Quarter both teams battled and made mini runs with New Hope eventually taking a two point lead. However Potter's House went on a 4-0 run to take a two point lead back. New Hope tied it with 12 seconds left and after a timeout the Lady Lions put 6'6 Naomi Ekwideke in the game and as Jasmine Gaines drove to the basket two defender went to Rellah Boothe and Gaines dished of to Ekwideke who hit the eventual game winner with 2.7 seconds left. New hope called a quick time out to set up a play and after seeing how Potter's House set up their defense New Hope called another timeout but were out of timeouts which resulted in a technical foul and the ball for Potter's House. Rellah Botthe made one of two free throws for the final margin of 75-72 in what was a very good game between two special teams . To God Be The Glory.
