Florida High School Basketball - Tampa Catholic fells Calvary Christian
January 9, 2010: Tampa, FL 33603 Tampa Catholic Crusaders (Tampa, FL) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad overcome the visiting Calvary Christian Warriors (Clearwater, FL), 66-46 in a non-league bout.
With the victory, Tampa Catholic upgrades its record to 13-2 on the campaign. The Crusaders travel to Clearwater Central Catholic (Clearwater, FL) to play the Marauders in a 3A District 10 bout on Tuesday, January 12. The Marauders come into the bout with a record of 3-10.
Next up, the Warriors play the Tampa Prep Terrapins (Tampa, FL) in a 2A District 10 bout, on Tuesday, January 12. Calvary Christian will attempt to upgrade on its 7-9 season record. The Terrapins come into the bout with a 11-3 record after their 57-41 non-league win over Berkeley Prep (Tampa, FL).
First Quarter
Tampa Catholic got off to a strong 8-0 run with a full court press. The pressure caused turnovers and produced several fast court layups.
Second Quarter
Four three point shots put Tampa Catholic ahead at the quarter by 22. Aggressive defense produced several points.
Third Quarter
Calvary Christain out scored Tampa Catholic by 2 working the ball under the basket and getting offensive rebounds.
Fourth Quarter
Teams played evenly down the stretch so Tampa Catholic prevailed by 20.
