Virginia High School Volleyball - Tuscarora can't hold off Broad Run
October 7, 2014: Ashburn, VA 20147 In Tuesday's league battle, the host Broad Run Spartans volleyball team scored a tight 3-2 triumph over the Tuscarora Huskies.
The Spartans (10-7) will now prepare for their battle against Briar Woods (Ashburn, VA). The Falcons come into the 5A Conference 14 battle with a 10-2 record. In their last battle, Briar Woods nudged Potomac Falls (Sterling, VA), 3-0, in a league battle.
Next, the Huskies clash with the Freedom Eagles (South Riding, VA) in a 5A Conference 14 battle, on Thursday, October 9. Tuscarora will attempt to advance on its 7-8 season record. The Eagles come into the battle with a 1-5 record after their 3-0 league loss to Broad Run (Ashburn, VA).
Match Summary
Tuscarora (7-7-1) traveled to Broad Run (9-7) for a crucial conference matchup. The Huskies had one of their season best performances in the 5-set loss to the Spartans. In what was nothing short of a prize fight, the Huskies and Spartans traded sets in an epic Loudoun County volleyball match. Broad Run took the first set 25-22 with tough serving and well timed tips. Tuscarora came storming back in the second set winning 25-17. The Spartans countered in the third set with a 25-17 victory and the Huskies fought back in the fourth set with a 25-17 win to bring the match even 2-2. Trading leads in the final set the Spartan defense was relentless and their offense mix was too much for the Huskies overcome with Broad Run taking the final set 15-13. The Huskies will look to bounce back from the loss when they host Freedom on Thursday night.
