California High School Softball - Notre Dame nudges Citrus Valley
April 28, 2011: Riverside, CA 92506 Notre Dame Titans (Riverside, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Citrus Valley Blackhawks (Redlands, CA), 7-6 in a league challenge.
The Titans now own a 12-6 record. They take the field next when they host JW North for a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 30. Notre Dame will battle a Huskies squad coming off a 5-0 league loss to Centennial (Corona, CA). The Huskies record now stands at 3-18.
With the loss, Citrus Valley falls to 15-5 on the campaign. The Blackhawks travel to Rim of the World (Lake Arrowhead, CA) to battle the Fighting Scots in a Mountain Valley challenge on Tuesday, May 3. The Fighting Scots enter the challenge with a record of 16-4. Rim of the World won 15-1 in their recent league challenge against Jurupa Hills (Fontana, CA)
Game Summary
The Notre Dame Titans defeated Citrus Valley H.S. in a nail biter on Thursday afternoon. The Titans kept the game close for most of the gmae but fell behind by three runs going into the bottom 7th inning, when the Titans battled back and 3rd baseman Jamie Alaniz hit a game winning single up the middle to give the Titans the victory over Citrus Valley who was previously unbeaten in league.
