Florida High School Softball - Providence gets by Mount Dora Bible
May 5, 2009: Mount Dora, FL 32757 The Providence Stallions (Jacksonville, FL) softball nipped the host Mount Dora Bible Bulldogs (Mount Dora, FL), 2-1 in Tuesday's non-league bout.
The Bulldogs now possess a 23-5 record.
Game Summary
Providence School of Jacksonville ended Mout Dora Bible's season with a 2-1 victory. Britanny Stone pitched the distance allowing 5 hits, 1 earned run and striking out 5. Providence had 2 hits in the first inning and 2 Bulldog errors gave the Stallions their 2 runs. In the bottom of the first 2 Stallion errors gave MDB its only run, but with no outs and Skip Williams on 3rd, Kristina Pazienza hit a fly ball to left field for an apparant sacrifice fly that would have tied the game, but Williams got a late break off 3rd and was thrown out at the plate. Jessica Gipson followed with a single but was left stranded. Chelsea Emery got the Bulldog's 2nd hit with 2 out in th e 4th but was also stranded at first. In the bottom of the 6th, Melanie Spicola lef off with a walk and Williams followed with a single putting runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. An errant pick off throw went into center field with Spicola moving to 3rd and Williams to 2nd, but Spicola rounded the bag at 3rd and was held
