October 11, 2011: Wilmington, NC 28403 The Hoggard Vikings volleyball team scored 3 points and limited the visiting Ashley to 0 in the Vikings league victory on Tuesday.
The Vikings now possess a 13-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to New Bern for a 4A Mideastern game on Thursday, October 13. Hoggard will meet a Bears team coming off a 3-0 league win over Laney (Wilmington, NC). The Bears record now stands at 17-5.
The (11-5) will now prepare for their game against New Hanover (Wilmington, NC). The enter the 4A Mideastern game with a 4-8 record. In their last game, New Hanover was dropped by Rose (Greenville, NC), 3-1, in a league game.
Match Summary
Ashley and Hoggard is always battle. Nobody gives an inch and every point is hard fought. An Ashley win meant a 3-way tie for first with Ashley, Hoggard and Rose, while a Hoggard win puts Hoggard in the driver's seat. After a slow start, Hoggard puts up a solid defense which leads to a 25-17 1st set. Hoggard goes on a roll and takes sets 2 and 3 going away. A great night for middle Montgomery Register with 6 blocks. No stars on offense, just even scoring from 5 different hitters. Even is good!
