Georgia High School Basketball - Salem can't hold off Newton

January 10, 2015: Covington, GA 30014

The Newton Rams basketball team scored 70 points and restricted the visiting Salem Seminoles to 64 in the Rams non-league victory on Saturday.

The Rams now sport a 14-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Lakeside for a AAAAAA Region 2 contest on Tuesday, January 13. Newton will battle a Vikings team coming off a 53-47 non-league win over Dunwoody (Dunwoody, GA). The Vikings record now stands at 3-8.

The Seminoles (7-9) will now prepare for their contest against Clarke Central (Athens, GA). The Gladiators come into the AAAAA Region 8 contest with a 9-6 record. In their last contest, Clarke Central was nudged by Heritage (Conyers, GA), 56-54, in a league contest.
