Arizona High School Basketball - Arcadia prevails Mingus
December 11, 2009: Cottonwood, AZ 86326 Arcadia Titans (Phoenix, AZ) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Mingus Marauders (Cottonwood, AZ), 60-45 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Arcadia upgrades its record to 8-2 on the season. The Titans host Notre Dame Prep (Scottsdale, AZ) to play the Saints in a 4A East Sky bout on Tuesday, December 15. The Saints go into the bout with a record of 3-5. Notre Dame Prep lost 62-50 in their recent league bout against Williams Field (Gilbert, AZ)
Next up, the Marauders play the Flagstaff Eagles (Flagstaff, AZ) in a 4A Grand Canyon bout, on Tuesday, December 15. Mingus will attempt to upgrade on its 2-4 season record. The Eagles go into the bout with a 4-1 record after their 68-34 non-league win over Winslow (Winslow, AZ).
First Quarter
Arcadia was an athletic group with no huge guys. They pressed us first half. We ran right thru it. Second half they went to a 2-3 zone. We struggled with that. Second half we turned the ball over too many times. They scored on the turnovers. #12 came in and hit 4 3 pointers. Never recovered from turnovers and 3 pointers.
Second Quarter
Press Breaker worked to perfection. Were able to drive quite often. Pass and cut worked for back doors when filling to the open spot. Carson struggled with hook pass and shooting. Juan and Austin and Logan played well. We only gor to the free throw line twice. They shot a lot of free throws and shot them well.
Third Quarter
We played man to man pack defense. Also pressed a couple of times with 54 and hurricane.
