The Charlotte Catholic Cougars basketball team scored 61 points and held the visiting Avery County Vikings to 46 in the Cougars non-league triumph on Friday.

The Cougars now sport a 9-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Charlotte Country Day for a non-league contest on Wednesday, January 2. Charlotte Catholic will meet a Buccaneers team coming off a 71-57 non-league loss to Village Christian Academy (Fayetteville, NC). The Buccaneers record now stands at 6-8.

The Vikings (5-7) will now prepare for their contest against Hendersonville (Hendersonville, NC). The Bearcats enter the 2A/1A Western Highlands contest with a 6-2 record. In their last contest, Hendersonville ran past Madison (Marshall, NC), 83-49, in a league contest.
