Virginia High School Basketball - Wakefield nips Randolph-Macon Academy
January 15, 2009: Front Royal, VA 22630 Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Wakefield Warriors (Arlington, VA) and the host Randolph-Macon Academy Yellowjackets (Front Royal, VA), saw Wakefield's basketball squad hold off Randolph-Macon Academy by a score of 39-36.
With the victory, Wakefield improves its record to 14-8 on the campaign. The Warriors host Washington-Lee (Arlington, VA) to battle the Generals in a AAA National challenge on Friday, January 16. The Generals come into the challenge with a record of 2-10. Washington-Lee lost 79-63 in their recent league challenge against Edison (Alexandria, VA)
Next up, the Yellowjackets battle the Fredericksburg Christian (Fredericksburg, VA) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, January 17. Randolph-Macon Academy will attempt to improve on its 3-4 season record. The come into the challenge with a 6-3 record after their 62-47 league win over Seton (Manassas, VA).
