The New Bern Bears (New Bern, NC) basketball nipped the visiting Grimsley Whirlies (Greensboro, NC), 46-45 in Wednesday's non-league test.

The Bears (6-1) will now prepare for their test against Wakefield (Raleigh, NC). The Wolverines go into the non-league test with a 10-1 record. In their last test, Wakefield got by Northern Guilford (Greensboro, NC), 58-38, in a non-league test.
