Kansas High School Basketball - Kapaun Mt. Carmel overwhelms West
January 16, 2009: Wichita, KS 67213 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Kapaun Mt. Carmel Crusaders (Wichita, KS) and the host West Pioneers (Wichita, KS), saw Kapaun Mt. Carmel's basketball squad trounce West by a score of 98-29.
With the victory, Kapaun Mt. Carmel improves its record to 7-2 on the campaign. The Crusaders host North (Wichita, KS) to battle the Redskins in a Greater Wichita City challenge on Tuesday, January 20. The Redskins come into the challenge with a record of 4-4. North lost 86-51 in their recent league challenge against Heights (Wichita, KS)
Next up, the Pioneers battle the Southeast Golden Buffalo (Wichita, KS) in a Greater Wichita City challenge, on Tuesday, January 20. West will attempt to improve on its 0-9 season record. The Golden Buffalo come into the challenge with a 2-7 record after their 59-34 league loss to Northwest (Wichita, KS).
First Quarter
Full court man pressure led KMC to an 8-0 start in the first minute.
Second Quarter
KMC switched to a 1-3-1 halfcourt trap. West struggled to get the ball past halfcourt without a turnover.
Third Quarter
Lulu Meadows opened up some scoring for West...getting to the free throw line to score 9 of her 17 points in the 3rd.
Fourth Quarter
KMC's JV squad continued the dominating performance. All 14 players scored for KMC. 98 points sets an all-time school record for KMC girls.
