Paul VI Panthers (Fairfax, VA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Bishop McNamara Mustangs (Forestville, MD), 62-59 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Paul VI upgrades its record to 19-7 on the campaign. The Panthers host Bishop Ireton (Alexandria, VA) to play the Cardinals in a VISAA Division 1 bout on Friday, February 11. The Cardinals come into the bout with a record of 8-20. Bishop Ireton lost 69-59 in their recent non-league bout against St. John's (Washington, DC)

Next up, the Mustangs play the Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons (Olney, MD) in a Washington Catholic bout, on Friday, February 11. Bishop McNamara will attempt to upgrade on its 18-6 season record. The Falcons come into the bout with a 7-18 record after their 74-50 league loss to Gonzaga (Washington, DC).
