California High School Softball - Royal holds off Calabasas
April 1, 2010: Calabasas, CA 91302 The crowd at Thursday's league match between the Royal Highlanders (Simi Valley, CA) and the host Calabasas Coyotes (Calabasas, CA), saw Royal's softball squad nip Calabasas by a count of 2-0.
The Highlanders now sport a 7-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Clovis West for a non-league match on Monday, April 5. Royal will encounter a Golden Eagles team coming off a 5-1 non-league loss to Buchanan (Clovis, CA). The Golden Eagles record now stands at 11-4.
The Coyotes (5-8) will now prepare for their test against Moorpark (Moorpark, CA). The Musketeers come into the Marmonte test with a 4-7 record. In their last test, Moorpark by Newbury Park (Newbury Park, CA), 5-4, in a league test.
Game Summary
Nancy Bowling got the win going to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the Marmonte league. Pitching a complete game shutout giving up only 1 bunt single in the game. Striking out 12. She also went 1 for 2 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Ali Mosier was 1 for 2 at the plate with an RBI a run scored and a stolen base. Katelyn Tollefson was 1 for 4 with a run scored. Kat Kepski had the bunt single in the 3rd inning to break up the no hitter.
