California High School Baseball - Menlo-Atherton defeats Whitney
March 29, 2010: Atherton, CA 94027 Spectators at Monday's non-league battle between the Menlo-Atherton Bears (Atherton, CA) and the visiting Whitney Wildcats (Rocklin, CA), saw Menlo-Atherton's baseball squad knock off Whitney by a count of 8-2.

Game Summary
Junior Kyle Zirbes snapped a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning as Menlo-Atherton defeated Whitney-Rocklin, 8-2, in its opening game of the Cordova Easter Tournament in Rancho Cordova Monday afternoon.
The Bears broke open a close game by scoring two runs in the fifth inning and four more in the seventh to win their fourth straight, moving their season record to 6-4.
Starting pitcher Nils Gilbertson earned the victory, limiting Whitney to two runs over the first four innings. Cam Winn pitched brilliantly in relief, surrendering just a single and no runs over the final three innings. M-A pitchers did not walk any Whitney hitters, throwing just 72 total pitches over seven innings.
