Game Summary
Peninsula opened its Bay League season with a loss at Redondo. The Seahawks took the lead in the first 30 seconds, but Sherry Black scored the first of her 6 Panther goals a minute later. Redondo controlled the ball over the next 15 minutes, building a 4-1 lead. Sherry Black -- dodging near the crease -- brought the score back to 4-3. The teams traded goals within the remaining 5 minutes -- including a free position goal by Jordan Raymond -- and the first half ended at 6-5 in favor of the hosts. The Panthers struck first in the second period to tie the game, and the Panther defense shut down the Seahawks for more than 12 minutes. Unfortunately, Panther scorers were also quiet. Redondo then broke through with 5 goals, as the Panther defenders appeared to tire. Sherry Black fired-in the last shot with 16 seconds left. Midori Mejia had 9 saves for the Panthers.
