Illinois High School Football - Sparta can't hold off Benton
September 1, 2006: Benton, IL 62812 Benton Rangers (Benton, IL) followers exited the stadium in high spirits Friday as they observed their football squad get by the visiting Sparta Bulldogs (Sparta, IL), 29-24 in a non-league challenge.
The Rangers now sport a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they host Pinckneyville for a non-league challenge on Friday, September 8. Benton will clash with a Panthers squad coming off a 25-22 non-league win over Frankfort (West Frankfort, IL). The Panthers record now stands at 2-0.
With the defeat, Sparta moves to 0-2 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Mater Dei (Breese, IL) to clash with the Knights in a non-league challenge on Friday, September 8. The Knights go into the challenge with a record of 2-0. Mater Dei won 28-6 in their recent non-league challenge against Nashville (Nashville, IL)
