September 6, 2012: Nipomo, CA 93444 The Nipomo Titans volleyball team scored 3 points and limited the visiting Mission Prep Royals to 0 in the Titans non-league victory on Thursday.
The Titans now possess a 3-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Sanger for a non-league game on Friday, September 7. Nipomo will meet a Apaches team coming off a 3-1 non-league win over Hoover (Fresno, CA). The Apaches record now stands at 3-4.
The Royals (1-3) will now prepare for their game against Pioneer Valley (Santa Maria, CA). The Panthers enter the non-league game with a 1-3 record. In their last game, Pioneer Valley was dropped by Santa Ynez (Santa Ynez, CA), 3-0, in a non-league game.
Match Summary
The Titans kept the score close in the first 2 sets, then broke away in the second half of both sets to easily win. The 3rd game saw the Royals come out with all guns blazing to create a 10-3 lead early in the set. The Titan ladies kept their composure and patiently whittled away at that lead to pull out a tight win 25-23. By staying loose in a tight set like the 3rd one, these young ladies are showing a lot of maturity and confidence in their volleyball skills.
